What Is a Fresh 48 Session?
A Fresh 48 session is a documentary-style photo shoot that takes place within the first 24–48 hours after your baby is born. Unlike posed newborn sessions, these photos capture the natural connection between you and your baby—right in the hospital or birthing center.
It’s perfect for documenting:
That instant love and new family bond
Baby meeting older siblings
Dad’s proud first moments
Nursing photos
Tiny hospital details like wristbands and bassinets
Skin-to-skin snuggles
First feedings or diaper changes
No props. No pressure. Just love.
Why Choose a Fresh 48 Hospital Photographer?
Those first hours after birth are full of magic and emotion—but also a blur. You’re recovering, bonding, learning your baby’s face. A professional Fresh 48 photographer makes sure those raw, beautiful moments aren’t lost to time.
Here’s what you’ll love about working with me:
🤍 A Calm, Respectful Presence
I’ve photographed dozens of newborns and families during this special window. I arrive quietly, work quickly, and know how to move gently around the flow of your recovery and your baby’s needs.
📷 Beautiful, Real Moments
No stiff poses—just real life, beautifully captured. I look for the in-between moments that reflect your family’s connection and your baby’s brand-newness.
🏥 I Come to You
Fresh 48 sessions can take place at local Charlotte-area hospitals, birth centers, or even at your home if you’ve had a home birth. I stay on-call around your due date to ensure I’m available once baby arrives.
What’s the Difference Between Fresh 48 and Newborn Sessions?
You can absolutely do both! Here's how they differ:
Fresh 48 happens within the first two days of life, in your birth space. It’s raw, emotional, and natural.
Newborn sessions happen later (typically 5–17 days after birth) in my studio. They’re posed, styled, and slower-paced.
Many of my clients love booking both to tell their full story—from first breath to curled-up newborn portraits.
How to Book Your Fresh 48 Photography Session
Because Fresh 48 sessions are time-sensitive, I only take a limited number per month. I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to reserve your spot on my calendar.
Once baby arrives, simply send me a message or text and I’ll arrive at the hospital within 24–48 hours to document your beautiful beginning.
Let’s Capture the First Chapter of Your Baby’s Story
You’ll never forget the way it felt—but having photographs helps you relive it again and again.
